Ithaca
Ithaca is out - the first release by SoundDrops in the brand new DEW Acqua product line. Available in VST3, AAX, and AU plugin formats, and is compatible with all major DAWs on macOS and Windows systems. Ithaca is, at its core, a saturator/distortion unit inspired by researches into nonlinear sound processing, dating back to the mid-1960s.
SoundDrops

SoundDrops is a one-person company run by Stefano Dall'Ora, who draws on his decades-long experience in two closely related fields. Stefano’s main professional activity is music, which he has been composing, performing, and teaching for over 40 years; his other great passion is electronics applied to the audio world, which for about the past ten years has led him to collaborate with Acustica Audio in the creation of most of the Acqua plugins, taking care of the sampling sessions of a wide variety of audio processors.

Dew

The DEW Product Line is a series of official Acqua plugin(s) designed and created by official Third-Party Developers, who use Acustica’s technology while adhering to its standards of quality, stability, and compatibility. It represents a space where talented professionals can bring their own visions to life while relying on the same groundbreaking technology that defines our core products.

Each DEW release is built upon Acustica’s proprietary VVK Technology and powered by the Hyper Engine, our next generation architecture designed for exceptional quality, light use, and performance. This combination ensures that every DEW plugin delivers the unmistakable Acustica sound - authentic, musical, and deeply dynamic.

About Ithaca

ITHACA is designed and optimized primarily for guitar and keyboard players, but it can also be used effectively in many other creative and unexpected ways by mixing engineers and sound designers with a taste for experimentation.

On that front, ITHACA has a few tricks up its sleeve:

  • a pre-EQ stage balances the signal’s spectrum before the nonlinear processing occurs;
  • a warm distortion stage, with a wide and progressive response, also includes a bias generator and a dedicated second harmonic control;
  • a post-EQ stage replicates the frequency responses of the tone controls of three classic distortion pedals;

It’s the perfect secret weapon to breathe life into dull sounds, add drama to overly “polite” musical contexts, or create colorful sonic textures that can take your mix to the next level... and above all, a fast and practical tool for adding warm, analog-style saturation to your instruments, whether real or virtual.

Key Features
  • Musical saturation with Drive, Bias, and 2nd Harmonic control
  • Up to 16× oversampling for reduced aliasing and higher fidelity
  • Pre-saturation tilt EQ for tonal shaping
  • Classic post-saturation tone circuits inspired by iconic pedals
  • Stereo speaker emulation with multiple cabinet models
  • Output level control with clipping warning
  • Fully resizable, high-quality user interface
