Red EQ curves

Postby nverxion » Sun Feb 14, 2016 1:19 am

I needed to do this for myself and I thought I would share. It's pretty helpful.

Yeah I mean everything. I wanted to see what it's doing everywhere.

The low boost, for example, is also doing a hi-cut. I knew I wasn't hearing things...

The mid band is also not centered exactly where it says it is. It shifts up a little above 2k the more you push it.

Welcome to the world of analogue :D

I was just looking at the L & R channels of Group buses of a relatively new and expensive console. I could measure 10dB of difference in the 2nd and 3rd harmonics distortion. Odd things happen in the world of electrons...

If I'm not mistaken we are talking of one of Ted Fletchers creations...................

I've always found him to be one of the most interesting designers purely for the fact that you always get some quirkiness and surprises from his gear. The compressors are the same. Not like any other company/designer. Inexpensive perhaps (some items at least) but musical, interesting and different in many cases..........

I really quite like the Red: broad strokes, tones, i had some of the early J*e M**k stuff and really dug it, not on everything, but where it worked it was cool and had mojo.........

Just popping in to say that the RED eq is one of the greatest guitar eq's ever IMO. I think it's been on at least 90% of the guitar tracks I've done since it came out! Very cool to see the "irregularities" of the eq curves
