Here's a full mix with cuts and boosts not just over the stereo bus. In this example there's an instance across 3 stem tracks: drums, bass, gtrs summed together and RMS level matched at track level, bus level, and the master output at -17.1. Settings all matched with an analyzer, as close as they could get to each other.

They all have lovely and different character to contribute.

The Green mix is my favorite. Nice comparison for the character of each EQ, thanks for taking the time!

Thanks, TM!
Very interesting comparison. I've got Magenta and Amber, but I do like Green very much. I think that it has a certain punch, especially clear at the very beginning of the mix (drums). It reminds me of the aha moment I got when using AlexB's console CLC for the first time, subtle, but it makes a difference!

I think the comparison is very interesting regarding flavours of distorted guitars - to my ears one isn't better than another, but it's more like an ear opener into small, but very significant differences in flavor, which boils down to taste.

I've listened to different parts of your mix, to the drums, the guitars, the cymbals etc. I think Green is very punchy on the drums, I think Magenta brings a certain tubey/warm/fat sound to the distorted guitars which I like very much, and the Green is also very smooth and clear in the highs (cymbals). I think Amber also brings something to the table, another flavor of the distorted guitars, more mids than Magenta perhaps? - but will perhaps shine better with more acoustic instruments?

Anyways, Green is very convincing in this example - although it's been something of a cliche commenting on Nebula EQ's - to my ears Green has better 3D and separation than both Magenta and Amber. I don't know if that's the plugin or could been something with the mix, but it's interesting that the balance between guitars and drums is better with Green than with the two others, especially when the drums is dominating in the dry mix.

Thanks again TM for spending time on this - I'm going to purchase Green :D

PS: just to be 100% sure - the frequencies of Green is continuous, and not stepped, correct?

frequencies are stepped! see the values on the skin.

gain and q are continous.
system 1: windows 8 32 bit - samplitude prox, tracktion6, reaper
system 2: mac osx yosemite - reaper(32+64bit), tracktion6(32+64bit)

both systems on: macbook pro (late 2009), core 2 duo 3,06 ghz, 4 gb ram, graphic: nvidia geforce 9600M GT 512 MB

- Right! However I saw a video of George where he is tweaking the x2xx hardware unit and the freq knob is definitely continious to my eyes. I thought the values on the skin were kind of "helpful" areas/reference points.
- You are a beta tester, so you know this for sure?

My pleasure guys, glad you like it. Figured full mix comparisons across several tracks with boosts and cuts is the most helpful. I think cutting gets ignored at times but it can reveal something about an EQ imo.

I have to say dagovitsj I echo everything you said. Green surely has this unique punch to it. But also I definitely can't pick a favorite because all of their characters I can think of a role for depending on the instrument, genre or texture I want. So in Nebula land, you tend to deem all EQ's as valuable :)

Thanks for this. I really like your comparison. You should post it also on Gearslutz. It shows how different these EQs can be and why there is a point in having even more and more EQ models in the Acqua world.

Over 100 downloads over there and hardly any feedback. They are a slow-to-warm-up crowd when it comes Neb
