i7 4770K or 4930?

Postby Melon_Jack » Wed Feb 05, 2014 7:23 am

Looking for a new PC and can't choose between 4770K and 4930. I know, that more cores - more power, but is it worth almost 300 bucks? (price in Russia 4770 - 300 Dollars, 4930 - 600 dollars).
Sorry for my bad english =))

Hi,

4930 is Ivy Bridge (third generation processors) and 4770 is Haswell (fourth generation-). Giancarlo said he had best results with the 4th generation processors (maybe some optimisation of the code in asm) which favor the 4770K.

OK, 4930 is 6 cores/12 threads while 4770K is 4cores/8 threads but, in my experience, having more computers is always better and cheaper than having a single really powerful one. You can have bigger overall power this way.

Giancarlo: MacBookPro Air retina + I7 4770 + 16 DDR3 RAM + SSD SATA 240 GB (I think) + OSX 10.9 with WM Fusion and Parallels with W8.1.

Enrique: Intel extreme board (FW + TB + x2 GB NICs + USB 2/3 + HDMI) + I7 4770 + 16 DDR3 RAM + SSD mSATA 240 GB + W8.1 x64. (EFI/EIST disable)

I hope this helps

Hello,

Has anyone ever tried a 4960x? x79 would be better for my old PCI card than Z87 with brigded PCI.

thanks.
