Elam, whaa? O__o LA2A is a very trasparent comp which is very gentle with highs, which preserves freq and make them shine with character (at least, that i used some time ago). 1176 too. Nebula does same (at least demo), but there's problems with low =(( That causes dirt in vocos low freq. Or drums.. That's driving me mad. I really like this sound, but it's not useful on 5 more GR.. I wanna push vox really strong with IYF effect and cannot do this with Nebula.. Just a gentle compression. But with character.
ngarjuna, thanks. Klanghelm has very nice reviews about his transparency. Should try, no brainer.
Sorry for my bad english =))

Listen again to Steven Slate comparsion IK 1176 with real Hardware. There's nothing to do with it - Real Hardware FAAAAAR better than Soft. Can someone try same settings with Alexb and Gemini 1176 replicas? With 76D demo i didn't get good results. Better than IK, but much worst than hardware. It's all about HI's. They so sweet with original one and sound is OPEN. I can't say that about Nebula, Waves or IK. Nebula has only one thing - character. But it's all gone when i try to compress the track. It's became "plastic"..

This compressor includes a new approach, its free, and in fact very good; http://www.tokyodawn.net/tdr-feedback-compressor-2/ It is for sure worth the effort to give it a spin :-)

You may read more about it here;
