NEBULAMAN 1.0 alpha 0.7 (win, osx)

Postby zabukowski » Mon Mar 21, 2011 11:11 am

NebulaMan is getting into an alpha stage. So, program is developed actively, new features are implemented, user requests are noticed etc. It is still far from beta stage and final release. If you want to know more about program's future, please read this:
http://www.acustica-audio.com/forum/ind ... =viewtopic

So, this is the first alpha version: 1.0 alpha 0.7

What is new ?

HOT: Nebula parameters (sliders) support (you know what it is :)

HOT: docking interface

- "Nebula parameters" and "Messages" docks
- you can move docks, hide and show them, 'undock' and 'dock' them etc.
- you can move a toolbar (floatable, docked)

Complete program GUI layout is stored (saved/loaded) in a binary file "nebulaman.layout", found in the same location as "nmsettings.xml" settings file.
win: NebulaMan program folder
osx: /user/library/preferences

Other goodies :)
- loaded Nebula program number and name now displayed in the title bar
- "disable preview clipping" option
- updated Acqua library (win: 1.3.475, osx: 1.3.466)
- device + stream latency info (testing/diagnostic purposes)
- better handling of invalid input and output audio files
- etc, etc ...

If you have problems with a program, first try to delete "nmsettings.xml" and "nebulaman.layout" files to reset it.

Download links removed (version expired)

Enjoy 8-)

Nice job! Rendering is super fast...., how did you do that? It should be the same nebula engine as that of the NRGUI PRO.....

Yes, I've noticed that. Nebula Renderer (used in NRGUI) is written by Giancarlo using the same Acqua engine, so I don't know why rendering is slower (maybe because of DOS/terminal window ???).

Note that NRGUI "processing gain" option also slows down rendering process because Nebula Renderer is analyzing each audio file for peak RMS value. This option will be implemented in NebulaMan, also. We'll see how it will affect rendering speed.

now this is getting good now :D

tested in mac osx 10.6.6 with macbook pro.
works perfect here!

just one request: please give us keyboard-shortcuts
when possible, with customization option, fixed ones would do it also.

anyway, i will buy it immediately, when you bring it out, great work!!

greetings mathias

Hi Zabukowski,

Was checking out Neb-man ...

Seems like things are working. :)

Couple questions, ideas ...

Not quite sure what the final vision is for this app,
but there are a couple things that come to mind.

First ... the library menu  I'm sure you know that this will be an issue. Maybe the new Nebula format would be a model.

Second idea ... and maybe this goes more to a 'rendering machine'. There is a function that we have in Steinberg's WaveLAB that allows us to make A/B comparisons WITH volume compensation. If you're not familiar, it is 'calibrated' by the user over a selectable timeframe with a manual update. This is a very useful function !
Another program is call 'HarBAL' ... this uses a totally automatic function. Clicking the bypass function quickly A/B's between source & EQ. Again, a very useful function.

Just wanted to throw some ideas out there for your consideration. Again ... not sure what you have in mind ... but there are interesting possibilities

Thanks!

Keyboard shortcuts are officialy on the feature request/wish list :)

IMHO current library menu with its searching capabilities is very simple and efficient. When multiple program selection will be implemented, it will be easy to drag and drop programs from it. I have a plan to implement new Nebula popup selection menu, also.

Nebulaman wants to be a simple and powerful previewing / rendering machine. This is the main goal. There are gain processing/volume compensation functions planned as well :)

Thanks everybody for testing and your ideas - glad you like the program so far :)

NEBULAMAN 1.0 alpha 0.8 (win, osx)

Postby zabukowski » Thu Apr 14, 2011 2:22 pm

HOT: "Rendering plan"

- all "checked" items in the rendering plan are rendered in the background process
- audio file(s) can be added to a plan as a 'file' item(s)
- folder(s) can be added to a plan as a 'dir' item(s) (all audio files in the added folder and it's subfolders will be processed)
- item(s) can be (un)checked, reordered, deleted etc. (multiple selection is supported)
- original audio files can be replaced with the rendered ones ("Replace" checkbox) - warning: the original files will be lost!!!
- alternatively, rendered output file(s) can have a custom name defined with "Output mask" parameter
- double click on a 'file' item will set it as a preview file
- context menu is available with the right click
- rendering plan is saved/restored to/from settings file (nmsettings.xml)
- rendering plan progress bar includes file count (rendered files/total files)
- rendering plan total elapsed time info is shown

Note: adding folders with a large amount of audio files will slightly slow down some "rendering plan" operations

HOT: initial support for keyboard shortcuts

space = start/stop toggle
ctrl-return = load current program
ctrl up/down = load prev/next prog
ctrl-b = bypass on/off toggle
ctrl-r = start/stop rendering toggle

OTHER:
- "load next/previous program" options for quick Nebula program previewing
- reloaded Nebula program is located on a program list at startup
- added button for quick preview file selection in the main window (alternatively, double click in the rendering plan can be used)
- 4 independent toolbars - "preview", "render", "rendering plan" and "dock"
- docks are now tabbed by default, if screen layout is not saved yet (first run)
- log messages level (loglevel: 0 - basic, 1 - advanced, 2 - debug) - can be defined in the settings file

for example: <loglevel> 1 </loglevel>

and a LOT, LOT of improvements, changes and bugfixes ...

If you have problems with a program, first try to delete files "nmsettings.xml" and "nebulaman.layout" to reset it.
