Sampling a hardware sampler ?

Postby S1GN4L » Sat May 22, 2010 1:40 pm

As the title says, i was wondering if it's possible to "sample" the digital filters, and possibly even other dsp effects, like the chorus, on my EMU 5000 ultra using NAT ?
I'm quite new to the nebula world, meaning i'm still a free nebula user but i was thinking to buy the 3 pro thing these days , so i was curious to know if something like this is possible.
Thanks in advance for your replies
bella! ;)

Hi S1GN4L,

I know there is a NAT session template and tutorial for filters.

I'm no NAT expert, very far from it. I would maybe write a little email to Mangel, AlexB, Velinas and Bob (Transcending music) and ask their advice. These guys really know their stuff and they're very friendly.

Good luck!

We already sample I/O EMU ESI-32 here. Try to do it on realtime. Try first with one to three steps and only one distortion kernel. Increase the amount after a successful test emulation presets. You can load a preamp NAT session and change to achieve good results.

Well, the problem is actually this: there's no way i can do it in realtime, i must load the sample inside the sampler before and then apply the filters or any other dsp effect, unfortunatley i cant monitor the sample recording with filters on.So, i guess the right question should have been: Is it possible to sample non-realtime effects ?
Well,if it isn't i might ask for it in the feature wishlist section :D

Yes. You should use Offline option. So you must load your VTT (Volterra test tone) into your hardware sampler and record the results into your sequencer, then export sampled audio clips to NAT session folder for deconvolver and EP creation.
