I know it's not an usual request (here I see only high end hardware requests, usually for mastering)
I ask for a simple compressor with fixed settings (slow/fast release and attack, if possible medium) and a very, very fine step on ratio
I would prefer an aqua plugin for this (it's more fast and evoluted) but a nebula library would be fine, if possible, in this case, into the same program
A good tube compressor would be ideal
Not for mastering, it's a request for mixing
I would be happy to pay for this.
(Mac 64 bit Au and Vst please too)
Thank you

Isn't the KULT compressor from GEMINI a tube unit ?

Just checked the manual ... yes it is, a German Tube compressor ... what I remember is liking the sound.

In fact, thanks for reminding me ... haven't played it in a while

Kultcomp is DEEP, very awesome library. I use it often.

Ah ... I remember, that's true.

The last time I really used it was on a vocal jazz session ... even for the mastering for the sound and the imaging.

Definitely need to re-visit this one. But I'm remembering that it had sooo many options and special custom NEB configurations ... need to pull up the manual  just to see if I can figure it out

Regardless ... even the 'simple' version I used still did magic 8-)

This sounds like the CDSM Warm Tube Bus Compressor to me. It is an Acqua plugin.

I use this compressor a LOT now. I think it is absolutely gorgeous. It is very, very 'musical'. It hugs, holds and caresses a signal, reacting to it as it changes, and enhancing the natural rhythm of whatever material is running through it.

There is a free version that you can check out. To get an easy sense of what it can do for your audio, set it to extreme settings, with the lowest threshold and the highest ratio. Then just sit back and listen to it for a few minutes. Notice how it just rides and reacts to everything. Once you really hear what it is doing, back off your settings to a more sensible range. If desired, you can actually do quite a remarkable bit of compression with this beast, and it still sounds really open.

It's beautiful.

Plus, it has warm AND tube in the name. How can you go wrong? Don't be fooled by the bus part of the name though. I have used this to great effect on individual instruments, sub-buses as well as for 2 bus duties.

correct me if i'm wrong, but i haven't seen anything in the documentation indicating that it is an acqua plugin. far as i know, it's just a vst plugin, no?

The CDSM Mastering Comp plugin (VTMC-M2) is not an Acqua, it is from the same (awesome) technology as the Tape plugin (VTM-M2). The Warm Tube Buss Comp is an Acqua plugin though.

^are you sure? the manual indicates the plugin is an original design. i interpret that to mean that no hardware device was sampled in its creation. acqua plugs are essentially v.v.k.t.-based plugins with more intuitive and "lifelike" gui, yes?

getting confused here. sorry...
