Analog style gain reduction meter?

Postby cehas » Wed Sep 26, 2012 9:32 pm

I know about the issues with Nebula compression, but they still sound way better than any other plugin compressor that I've tried.

Is there a possibility to add an analog style GR metering via skins or something? The digital metering is fine, but I'd like a more hands-on approach to the final mix. I HATE using any VST compression after Nebula, hence the coloring.

That's nice and all, but I was talking about the gain reduction meter (with compressors). Mind you, I'm using basic Nebula 3 (not the Pro version) and I'm using the SK Good-skin which I'm more than happy with, but I'd like to see the GR metering work in the same as the VU does.

Any chance of seeing this happening?

I'll ask Giancarlo about that. Remember that Nebula3, Nebula3 PRO and Nebula3 Server use different audio engines.

Seems to me that the metering can be adjusted to display several different parameters, so is it even possible to adjust it to show the GR?

I'm sure that I'm not the only one who'd like to see this happen.. would be cool to have some gorgeous sounding master buss compressor with an analog style metering pumping there ;)

i'll add my vote for this request. for one thing, if you did a compressor in acqua format there wouldn't be any gain reduction meter at all.

If this becomes or is possible (in the code) I will try and add it to my skins. I not only want them to look and feel great - but I hope we can get some accurate metering (VU and GR), and some other user friendly aspects implemented.

If this is or becomes possible I would probably also update my skins with variants that included gain reduction.
