I'm SO happy that people are discovering how different and cool the Revox sounds. I'm always stretching to find new descriptors for things that are less technical and more like personality. It is almost closer to describe the differences like textures instead of sounds. I picture the Otari as smooth and wide, the A800 MKIII as wide, deep, and warm and soft, and the Revox like a surface with a pattern that adds something pretty but complex to everything. I can understand why a lot of bass players like it for personal projects. It is similar to the sound a jazz bass gives to the growl of a string.

Or how about foodstuffs?

I see the Revox like the soy sauce in a stir fry. Creates a strong unified flavour while enhancing the the taste of each ingredient.

Guess it must be getting near time for dinner!
