Fate Compressor Update (Gain Makeup)

Postby analoginthebox.com » Thu Nov 18, 2010 12:46 pm

As requested by customers we changed the Makeup slider's default behaviour.
It is changed from the default range of +0dB/+25dB to:
Ratio 1.5:1 -> +0dB/+12dB
Ratio 2:1, 3:1, 4:1, 6:1 -> +0dB/+15dB
Limiter: +0dB/+13dB
This results in more precise control of gain makeup.

To install the update unzip the files to your \nebulatemprepository\programs folder and overwrite existing files.

Super!

but still... 15dB? I can not imagine compressing more than 4dB without the thing breaking up. On drums 1db is usually more than enough for me.

Im curios, did anyone gone that far with good results? On what material?

I got the email about this upgrade and haven't installed it yet because I'm concerned about how it will effect my existing mixes. Won't the gain I set previously be all messed up? If so, how can I create a new group within Nebula for the gain makeup update versions?

If it's the actual make up of the unit it does make sense.

It just had too much gain make up, so its reduced now cause you wont likely be compressing more than 10db with this anyway.
