Hm. Interesting. I haven't done the comparisons, so maybe I will. The problem s that without presets with both sample-rates, it's hard to really do tests, even just by ear. But whatever sounds best to each artist/producer IS best. Thanks for the info!

I use it a lot. MY favorite preamp is the PCS TeleV72. The PCS A512, A-MECK, THD1/2/3/4/5 and FatZu Flat are also great. These are pretty much the only ones I use.

Correction: Gdrive works with PCS programs.

By the way Barendse, I just recently did the ear test with the PCS regarding the 96-44.1kHz problem, and while I do hear the differences, I DON'T hear any benefits to atually working in 96...... so I guess that I would love to see a 44.1 uodate too..... :roll:

The test I mentioned can't be done with PCS because there only in 96. Take for instance the brilliant PTQ (Pultec) from Alex B. The PTQ programs are 44.1 and 96. Take a 44.1 track and render it once with 44.1 programs and once with 96 programs.

I was sleep deprived when I typed that last post... I did do it with the Pultec, and a quick one with a few of Alex's comps too. I do hear a difference, but not enough for me to not use a certain library if I am working in 44.1.

You can hear it with a few programs, now imagine a full mix.

Yup. But what to do? I use whatever tool does justice to the song, whatever sample-rate it's in. I used to work in 48kHz exclusively, that seemed to be a happy medium with "better" resolution and less degradation with 96kHz Nebula libraries, but I have been working more with pre-recorded tracks lately and have begun to get accustomed to 44.1......

Do you guys no what the THD 1-5 programs mean? I know about THD guitar preamps but they are valve and these are part of solid state group, aren't they? :roll:

@Barendse;
I just thought of something regarding the conversion. Do you have your RATECNV set to the max? Until I did, any time I used a 96kHz preset in a project in anything besides 96kHz, it sounded funny because Nebula wasn't converting completely. Just an idea....
