Api550A has THAT gengle-vintage roll-off in the high, if you prefer more open highs (modern sound) you may better to use the new 550B or 5500 (BMeQ stereo mastering unit).

To me, waves sounds harsh in the highs...
Mix with the ears, not with the eyes...

Yeah I mistook the roll off for Waves "haze" so that's what I focused on.

There have been times when I've worked with soloed tracks where I thought Aireq sounded almost as good for the part. But when in the context of a mix Nebula always wins because it finds its own place and sounds bigger. That is something I can't gauge when a track is soloed.

yes~~ using the old word, VBQ is "more 3D"...
Kick is more "kick your chest" than "kick your head".
And some hi-hat notes Waves do sound obviously harsh compared to VBQ.
