Best "Nebula" compressor for vocals

Postby geedy » Tue Nov 29, 2011 7:29 am

I am a new user of nebula and there are SO many choices as far as compressors go for this program. Diligently searching through forum after forum i understand there are "certain" limitations as far as nebula attack time that certain users have used work around methods for... but besides that im looking for a "fat" "colored" "Snappy" "3D" compressor because i will be working with very transient 2D vocals...So far the FATE compressor and STRIPE 76 have been looking like the winners but im up for second and third opinions.. LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!!

I don't yet have stripe76 but do have a harware 1176 rev A clone and it's a killer vocal compressor both character wise and for its compression action. Has anyone done an La2a yet???

I know that the 1176 is a highly sought after FET compressor but the only Fet type compression i have seen is from rhythminmind.. Are you speaking of the 1176 Rev A that he is still sampling or are you saying you just have the actual hardware?

Well from my understanding the 4KD and Snap Compressor are essentially the same thing.. both are S*L BUSS compressor.. except the 4KD has a few extra things going on with it... So would u say the 4KD reacts better than the Snap compressor or vice versa?

I wouldn't say it reacts better but I prefer its color/character.

Ok thats good to know.. thats another thing to keep in mind.. so it must react more like the actually unit with more harmonic distorition... the say the same thing about the Fate Eq and the V73q that the V reacts more like the actually unit... I wonder how the Cooltec and Pooltec differ as well as the two A*I emulations.. even though i think one is the 550a and the other is a 550b..

AlexB's stuff sounds vintage while Niklas' stuff sounds modern. At least this is how I perceive it.
