I have this 'knob feature' with my NVC controller for AlexB's Pooltec [as an option].
I admit ... seems a simple concept [on the surface]. It was challenging, because I wanted to be able to maintain an 'offset' between the 2 knobs. They could track [in reverse], yet still maintain different start values of the Cut/Boost]. I didn't want to be locked into identical -1/+1, -2/+2 type of relationships, so I added an temporary over-ride.

I agree - I like the basic tone and compressor action but too much bass without some compensation. Here's a snapshot of a 'flat' pinkish noise and AB N54 (the green curve) that gives me the idea of a shelf shape to try. That is with no compressor action just the N54 compressor with GR meter showing 0. And like someone said N64 is less bassy but I like the N54 vibe so I'll try a shelf - didn't think of it before your comment.
True Brian its just the static difference a starting point perhaps - its a pretty hefty bump N54 adds, I agree NovaGE and the bx_dynEQ V2 are nicely transparent for managing momentary buildup thru-out the spectrum. My 2 favs at the moment...
