Why to work at 48kHz ? If you do CD: 44.1kHz it's fine. If you do DVD: 96kHz. Today I don't see reasons to work at different sample rate since converters and plugins are so good. And remember: every sample rate conversion deteriorate the sound. Even the most celebrated SRC software do it.
Hi all.. Did the upgrade from CLC to this new 4KC ..
I really like the improvements, the sound is so 3D, so nice and pleasant.. but, I wonder if the new one had the 'IL1, IL1 st, IL2, IL2 st, (..) IM1, IM1 st, IM2, IM2 st, (..) it would not be the best aproach to capture the subtle nuances in different channels of the console, or the best way is like it is now, only one 'Line In' and 'Mic In' programs?
Neverthless, I'm very impressed with the 'sound' of this upgraded library from Alex.. Maybe we'll have un ugraded GMC (German Mastering Console) one of these days!
An upgraded GMC (German Mastering Console) is very much hoped for.
As to 4K-v2 ... I don't know the reason for only a single PreSet of Mic and Line ... but as pointed out in the manual, it is suggested to alter the DRV control a few +/- dB for some deviation between tracks.
Still, it would be interesting to hear AlexB's views on this.
BTW ... the 4K-v2 is excellent, and finding itself used on several mastering sessions I've done recently.
Having just bought GMC (and already owning GMD for a while), I think it's incredible already. I really do hope for a v2 though.
I have wondered why 4k only has the options for mic and line too. I can't say I'm upset about it, because this library makes it's way into just about everything I do already as it is. I really like using the group programs in parallel on drum room tracks. I've stacked master buss programs on top of each other (or maybe with other Nebula stuff in between). The only thing I always wished for was a bass channel/group. Besides that, this release is perfect. I can't imagine not using it at any point soon, if at all!
