Preamp shootout: N**e 1073, A*I 512, UA 1108

A decided to "re-preamp" my last recording in order to compare different preamp flavors. We all have some idea of how N**e 1073 or A*I 512 should sound but I was really surprised by the smoothness and transient speed of the less known UA 1108. If you do not know how it sounds, you are really missing on something. Check it out! :)

Preamps used for the shootout:
N**e 1073: Gemini audio NVE PRE 73

A*I 512: STN American 512c

UA 1108: STN Fet 1108

So, what do you think?

Any opinions about these?

Looking at the 73 to add another 73 preamp and the C******r.

Actually, I like very much all of them. My favorite combination is:
N**e on the drums and bass, A*I on the guitars, UA on the vocals and synths. :-)

Everything from OwnHammer is awesome. Under-rated and almost not on the radar, but everything is great. he is unfortunately not sampling anymore, so what you see is most likely all there ever will be for Nebula. And if he goes the route that other older devs have gone, you had better scoop up what you can now before they are no longer available.....Back when I started with Neb, I also was fortunate enough to have some "spending money" for over a year...so I have all of Own Hammer, among other collections...lol.

right- Ownhammer sounded fantastic, but all time faves are the preamps from "Retro Analog Studio Suite" from CDS. He Michael, please update the mighty Silver73 to 96kHZ- the 44.1 version is 7 years old :!:
