I did a Google search for "tube vca compressor limiter" and the first result was what I would guess is the hardware. The ratio values on the hardware match exactly with this library. Other parameters might as well, I didn't compare any further.

That was my conclusion too. It's certainly blue all right.

Tim, if I'm correct about the hardware sampled, it seems to have a 15:1 ratio. Was that ratio too similar to the 20:1 ratio to include it in this library?

As far as I remember, the ratio on the unit you guys are talking about is variable, not stepped. So Nothing was "left out" really, he just had to make choices. I think the 15:1 marking is just a reference point, not a stepped setting.

Richie is correct it's variable ratio, if I could I would of kept the presets variable ratio but the CPU was going to be to high this way. Maybe in the future when we get even faster computers I can make a version for this.

What is the view of this Blue Mu compressor for mastering duty? [not just an internal bus, but an overall feed of a 2-mix].

I've gone looking for relative sites, and found one that had audio demos ... but I'm not certain I was listening to 'this' model.

Any descrips as to this units 'tonality', color, transparency, or character, would be appreciated.

thx

Hi,
how does that compare to doing the same thing with L2 or any other limiter? Is there a noticable difference soundwise?

And: Is the limiter quick enough to catch everything? - can it be used as the final limiter in the chain?

thanks,
Tobi

Hi,

I can answer the catch everything question. It's not that type of limiter, I based it around the original design and the R versions are a changing release shape much like a la limiter.

However today I'll create some ahead presets that should grab everything. I'll post the n2p's here later today if it works out.
