Wow! This comp is too damn close to the hardware that's scary. I must say that I hate the 1176, I really don't undersand how people use it as a compressor and not as a distortion unit. It's not my type of compression but thanks to that I've come to know its sound because many studios I've mixed in use it and love it so I've had to cope with that preference but really, it's an aweful compressor in my opinion... in my opinion. There's still a few things I don't like in the attack with u76 that I've heard in the black face I've stumbled upon here but yeah, the "sound" is spot on.

I do agree if you mean that all buttons trick on a snare drum ... it's so 80' and awful On the other side, you cannot really get those Sylvia Massy - Chris Lord Alge Lead vocals + basses without an 1176 somewhere. This kind of device is genre specific for sure. It's amazing how this lib got the compression & the distortion of the real unit so well.
