working in 88k

Postby mtlin » Sat Aug 16, 2014 8:03 pm

I have a number of projects that I recorded in the studio at 88k. I am now at the mixing stage and I have had bad luck with Nebula. I tried to load up VNXT plate in Reaper and it crashed. I next put an instance of AlexB's Vintage Blue Console on the 2-buss and I got loud audio pops whenever I moved the cursor so I took it off. Any advice for me? Do I have to change some settings somewhere? If so, how? Thanks!

what system are you working on win or mac?
what are the mastpage settings of your nebula?
especially dspbuffer, rateconvert.

did you make any tweaks to your xml before?

it is so funny that people expect answers, when they do not provide information about the things in use ;)
system 1: windows 8 32 bit - samplitude prox, tracktion6, reaper
system 2: mac osx yosemite - reaper(32+64bit), tracktion6(32+64bit)

both systems on: macbook pro (late 2009), core 2 duo 3,06 ghz, 4 gb ram, graphic: nvidia geforce 9600M GT 512 MB

Sorry for not providing the information! I confess to be so ignorant as to not even knowing what information is relevant.

I'm on a PC.

The dspbuffer is 512.

Rateconvert is 9000 as per VXNT's suggestion.

I think I might have tweaked my xml before but I don't remember. Maybe on the recommendation of Cupwise?

Thanks for your response and patience!

some things you can try:

- increase your buffers and try different settings up to max buffer (8192)
- to check your tweaks: install nebula (a setup installation) to a different location, plugs and repository, and check the xml file of nebual reverb (plugin) to compare with the one you have.
reset all your tweaks to the default settings.

you can delete that extrainstallation completely, when you don't need it anymore. maybe backup the xml for future reference.

best,
mathias

Which specific xml file am I looking for?

I've done the other tweaks you recommended but I get massive audio studder. My processor is an Intel(R)i7 and I have 32 GB of RAM.

every nebula plugin dll has its xml file with the same name.
nebula reverb.xml for example.

compare the one from a new installation (like described above) with the one you have in your plugins folder where the nebula dll sits, to check for tweaks and return to the factory settings.

are you using the latest nebula update (1.3.770)?

when you want to revert to the factory settings of nebula, you can also make a setupinstallation over your existing one. (be careful when choosing the folder for the vst plugin, do not choose the acustica folder, choose the one where the acustica folder is in)
backup your key before (init.n2p and init.n2v, in programs/vectors folder of nebulatemprepository) and copy them back afterwards.
