Dude.... Been matching this with my Warm Audio WA76.

Whatever you sampled is very different tonally and the envelope is still different too. I'm not sure exactly where your meters were hoppin', but damn if this isn't the closest anybody has ever been ITB.

Oh good!

these units have been described as softer sounding.
here is some extra clips for the fast attack all buttons
maybe you would get closer with the peak mode version.

That's something I forgot to mention in the blurb. The presets will have two different detectors to choose from on all buttons. Those initial clips were slower detection

yeah just listening to the clips I do feel like Im hearing a hardware unit...I know that sounds a bit hype but the transients sound nice - non clicky...and there is no smudged high end...

Unfortunately, can't really afford the libraries right now. Gotta pay for this WA76!

The U76 is definitely softer than the WA76. It's really actually very different. But, all the qualities I'm used to hearing a "cartoon" all buttons in mode have are not there with the U76.

Thank you for your input.

Just wondering about the input impedance of a wa76? It might make a difference to the sound some what. Not that there is a wrong but 1176 I think were 600 ohm.I went for a 15k setting on the u76 as it's a option, just a thought.

To clarify-

From the manual

3) Limiter / Compressor Input Loading - When this button is pushed in, the input impedance will be 600 ohms, typical of older vintage gear. When the button is out, the impedance will be 15K ohms. In some situations you may perceive a “brighter” tone by using the 15K ohm position.

Anyway I guess I noticed that this comp was very straight all the way up. Where as I have seen graphs of 1176 with a huge roll of starting at 10khz (not corner frequency)

I helped test these and Tim definitely nails the amazing transient response and character. Overall this is a unique 76 type comp. Very useful
