I trust you mean the more modern hip hop than the stuff from the 90's. First off, you can find 808's literally everywhere (and they aren't Nebula related, in case that's what you were guessing). Just search for some, you'll find them in many flavors and only you can decide what flavor you want. There's flavors from the crystal clear ones to ones that have been sent through a console and tape to the point of distortion. The choice is yours

Regarding Nebula libraries, don't take what I say for gospel, but instead, please research these libraries and decide if they will make sense for you.

First, preamps. That one's obvious to me, check out AlexB's Preamp collection. You'll have more flavors there than you'll ever need to use!

Second, consoles. Again, AlexB's S*L consoles (Classic Logic and Modern Logic) are a must in my opinion. ESPECIALLY the Classic one, the Modern isn't very colored at all and adds a small sheen to everything, where as the Classic really delivers the punch! Also take a look at anything A*I. Really, there's a lot of great consoles out there, so don't stop looking at those two. CDSoundmaster and Henry Olonga both have some stunning conosoles.

Third, (and this should have been first) mics. Microphone emulations have been around a while in Nebula, but are often forgotten about. After buying several mic programs from Henry Olonga, I can't stop using them! Putting a u87 over whatever large-diaphram condenser you have is going to make the upper frequencies just sit in the mix much better! Take a look at other mics, there are also some free ones floating around somewhere too.

Fourth, EQ's. It's not an EQ, per se, but the nrA Enhancer from Signal2Noize is EXCELLENT for adding air. There are SO many EQ's out there now for Nebula, and they really are all better than any algorithmic EQ... just pick one

To make the drums knock, I love using A*I preamps into the Classic Logic Console!

thank you so much botus!!! for the u87 emulation do you have to drive the gain in nebula or do you just throw it on and it emulates it?

You bet man 8-) You CAN gain-stage the mic programs, but to be perfectly honest, I'm not sure if (or how much) it affects the sound  Maybe someone else knows that for sure?

As far as what programs out there are good for processing 808's... a lot of them haha. Unfortunately I could go off naming tons of libraries/programs that will make an 808 sound "better" but without knowing what "flavor" you're going for, my advice may not help you very much
