there are a few other mics, yuval (yr) sampled an old beyerdynamic last fall and a few others are in the "old" commercial library.

some thoughts regarding the frequency response of the md 421:
there is a low boost, that comes from setting it up very near to the speaker. the drop at ca. 1.5 khz may have something to do with my foam-chamber. speaker at such distance will give its imprint too. just too much variables...
normally it has a flat response from around 100 to 1.5 khz, then it rises up 4-5 db and drops at 16 khz.
as mine is old, i can not tell how much it deviates from the original.

i tried the program on saxophon, which makes a nice warm and breathing sound :D

here comes the next one! 8-)

look in the first post under TEXTURE-programs.
open the "Readme" for some explanations regarding this one!!

this is starting a new "line" of programs, that come out of some experiments. here is an excerpt from the "Readme" of the program:

starting with this one, i will give my nebulaprograms associative names.
it is like describing my perception of the effect, by translating it into a picture.
often times we are so fixed to brand names and how they are "rated", that we think more, than really hearing to the changes that an effect makes.
but at the end it is all about our own perception, so why not start there directly ;-).

this came out great, surprised me and gave me some new ideas ... :D

have fun,
mathias

Love your hd reverb programs. Clear, alive and real depth. Great work!

Your Bark program sounds interesting too. Programs with speaker character are very usefull for bringing live into di signals.

Thanks!

a new TEXTURE-program ! 8-)

it is called "DEFINE" and you find it in the first post under the TEXTURE category (it is actually two programs).

like BARK it is a speaker/microphone combination and adds flavour to your tracks/instruments.
you can use it on everything you like, the effect is not too strong and can be lowered to very small amounts inside nebula. there is a readme with informations on it inside the zip.

have fun,
mathias

edit:
by the way these are stereoprograms (mono in, stereo out), so they give a little life to your monotracks ;)

great to hear you like them. :)

in the bark program, the mic brings a lot of the character. the speaker is more on the neutral side (if that can be said about speakers in any way).

in the new DEFINE-programs i used a stereo-setup with tubemics, that are more neutral and open.

best,
mathias

I'm expirimenting with the Define programs, so far I like them a lot. Is it wise to insert them on a stereotrack also? I'm not quite sure of what's going on there.

Some suggestions for the coming Define collection ;-)
A little less coloured, a little more room/space.

Thanks for creating great stuff Mathias!

hi,
thanks for suggestions, i will look into that.
more room/spacious is something i will try for sure, as i am interested in that too. we'll see ...... :)

it is absolutely safe to use it on stereotracks. keep an ear on stereoimage-changes, but this shouldn't be too strong. if it feels too strong a change for your taste, you can lower the effect-amount or switch to "mono-l" on the kernelpage in nebula. this way the left kernel is used for both channels and you get only the color and no stereo-effect.

greetings,
mathias
