STN - Vintage Iron U10 strange artifacts ?

Postby elam » Thu Nov 03, 2011 3:50 pm

It's been a while that I noticed that but I never took time to ask the community.

I notice some strange noise when using U10 form STN on the drum bus. It's similar to a "bamboo flute" soft and very low leveled. You might need headphones to grab it as it's not obvious at all.

I thought at first that it was a gain staging issue. But it's appears whatever level I put trough it.I even hear it at -34db peak. You just hear less "playing" as much as you decrease the input level but it still there.

I thought it was related to the material. But I got it on acoustic or electronic drums. On heavy disorded or "busy" material you can't really hear it but on unprocessed drums it's obvious, again use headphones.

Does anybody notice that too or it's just me.And Eric,if you're around let me know if it sounds familiar...
I really like this program and still wanna use it.Anyone ?

I'll look into this & see if I can recreate/find anything. PM me your current email address.

some time ago, when working with these programs, i changed them to splith hybrid on the kernelpage, because of artefacts and perceived quality.

maybe try this ?

mathias
system 1: windows 8 32 bit - samplitude prox, tracktion6, reaper
system 2: mac osx yosemite - reaper(32+64bit), tracktion6(32+64bit)

both systems on: macbook pro (late 2009), core 2 duo 3,06 ghz, 4 gb ram, graphic: nvidia geforce 9600M GT 512 MB

Since I have this on the bench as is, I'll give this an update. Being that these are one of my older releases it can't hurt to re-sample with the latest NAT + converter upgrades to create a higher kernel program. I'm a bit OCD like that. :) (free update)
