some more real rooms from my house

Postby mathias » Wed Nov 02, 2011 3:25 am

i found time to sample some more places in my house :)

this time it is the bathroom and the toilet

both programs have 3 kernels and are mono in, stereo out.
as stated in the name, the bathroom was sampled with an AB configuration spaced 50 cm. it gives a diffuse image, pretty nice to give signals some air around it.

the toilet was sampled with an xy configuration, so it is very focused and as the room is so small, there is no gap between the direct signal and the reflections.
could be interesting to experiment with extra predelay.

to make the programs not too big, i sampled with 2 db steps at a number of 18, so it covers a range of 36 db dynamically.
the speaker i used for the testsignal drops from 100 hz downwards. so this range is not covered.

let me hear what you think about the quality and if you find it useful.

here the dropbox links:

tip for the toilet-xy program:

place it on an aux-bus with voxengo MSED (inline-mode) afterwards. then reduce the mid-signal, to lower the toilet-room-impression :) . adjust aux-level to taste ...

How fun. I always knew that my music was really heading down the toilet, but now with more realism than I had ever imagined!! Thanks again mathias!

I had a few minutes to play with your new presets. i tried them on a vocal track, and both were very useful and fun, but very different. I didn't try the MSED insert yet but will in the next few days. But even from that short test I can tell that both of the presets will find their way onto some projects soon. I bet that they will be fun on guitar, piano, sax.... anything really! But it IS just a crap-shoot, right? (Pun intended since they are bathroom and toilet presets..... )

That's just what i need; to really feel like my music is being flushed.... But if you are serious, these presets with more depth and presence would be very cool. I for one would use them gladly! I like what they do in busses.

haha, that's cool. i had that idea once, but i was going to send the signal to my ipod's built in radio, and have that floating on a makeshift raft in the toilet, and mic that from somewhere in the room. probably wouldn't have came out so well.

anyway, it's good to see people experimenting!

That's brilliant! I ALWAYS want people to think I am taking a crap when they talk to me.... um.... wait. No I don't. I just got caught up in the excitement. Nice sounding preset though.......
