ok maybe Im going mad and its the honeymood period but it seems to me this program really kicks ass...

Here are two more examples of the Focus Reg program which seems a little more accurate in the transient attack and release...here it is compared to a vintage RED doing -10db gain reduction...ok I got the level of the Focus a bit too high...dont you think its close tho? Except the software has a little more punch and low end - as usual ;)

Yes sounds good on that for sure!

So is The RED a Piece Software by slate?. I did a quick search on gearslutz and saw the VBC.

Anyway it's sounds like you got it working nicely and I'd agree that it sounds close.

Really would like to get it working Nebula reverb like that though. The only other way around it is to have Nebula compressors dll but it really increases the cpu.

I wonder if those old red and the silvers are close circuit wise, they do sound very close!

this was audio from the Slate VBC test and the comparison here is with an actual F*******e Red3 Vintage hardware unit - not software :)

Ive heard people say the compounder (which I assume is similar to this unit) is VCA and some say its opto...its character seems a bit opto but I think I remember reading F*******e talking about its Red3 heritage...

In Live I get the same CPU usage using the Nebula Focus Reg and Nebula Reverb HQ Focus...

full disclosure - I had to do a small wideish boost @ 4k (mammoth) with the Focus example to get the same tonal response as the Hardware Red3...the Focus takes away a bit of mid-high...

In case nobody heard the Cal 1656. Here's some extreme limiting and my next library using the same dry soundclip clip....

It's extreme but it's just to show what's going on.. ;)

Hi,

hope this isn't too cheeky a question - this Focus Comp v2 used to work on the previous version of Nebula FREE, but I've upgraded to the latest version of FREE and this doesn't work anymore. Does anyone know how to get it working?

It's such a great compressor.

Thanks.

Sounds like you have the original RED3 with Xfo outputs.
Samples you posted are great. I still like the RED3 hardware better as I find the Focus as little "spikey" but who could expect such a close relationship between each other ? Amazing. Thank you.
