As a beta-tester for many devs, a product review from me may seem less credible or convincing. But ask anyone who has had any sort of personal or professional dealings with me and they will all (hopefully....) say that I may be annoying, a bit persistent, a blabber mouth, but painfully honest and up-front. I would never say good things about a product just because I tested it, I have nothing to gain from that. If I don't like the product, I will either pester the dev until they change it to my liking (lol), or just slip away silently at release time. Now that's out of the way..... This is a very very cool library of presets. If you already have CDSM's THE Drum Compressor, then you already know that this concept works, and works astoundingly well. I think that the habitual "tweaker" gets a little disturbed at first with the idea of 500 or so presets that include pre-determined compressor parameters and equalization curves. I'll be honest, I had a tough time for a few months with the Drum library, but because I already know that Michael (CDSM) only releases amazing products, I would go back to it from time to time. One ay the brilliance of the set hit me, when I discovered that what I thought I had "missed" (more control, I thought), I gained in speed. And as I learned even more (and let my guard down... ), I discovered that there were more possibilities than I probably would have found on my own with separate tools. Crazy, eh? And they sound incredible. But this is about the new Guitar library..... This library is nothing short of ground-breaking and phenomenal. There are so many well thought out flavors and options, from subtle to extreme. I play many instruments, and deal with even more in my audio life, but my longest musical passion has been with guitars of all kinds. So as I started listening to the different presets (using my own guitar tracks to be extra critical), I was so surprised at how "guitary" these presets are, it's like Michael really did his homework and reached deep into his inner-guitar-passion to give us these functions and gorgeous tones. After i come down a little from the audio-high with these (for real, not just being dramatic ), I am going to try these on a few non-guitar sources. I am sure that I will find many non-guitar uses for them, like I have with the drum library. But they immediately sound good on guitars, for sure! Enough verbosity, get this library. Like I said, it may take a little time for people to "figure out" how brilliant these are, but you would be silly to pass on this.
I was doubted about the FET compressor since it's way too fast for nebula. So many questions/audio demo requests from me were answered by Michael. Still not a converter.
And yesterday I tried the free programs for electric guitar, the sound is really impressive.
With the preset's default Parallel Compression build for the electric guitar, the sound is denser and tasty. Really hard to achieve the same effect with other software compressors. Although it will take some time to master all the 500 presets.
