Hi, you mention that you have the A*I compressor from AlexB. I have just got this also. Would you mind me asking how you set it for use on a drum buss? In terms of the threshold vs ceiling etc. and so on. I'm unfamiliar with this compressor you see. I should check out the 609 too by the sound of it :)

Absolutely check the 609 if you like that buttery "fast attack yet punchy" compression sound!
I'll have a look at the settings of the A5D and get back.

So: in that last project I set it to high pass 130Hz, attack 6.5ms, release to taste of course, ceiling below 4, and gain reduction showed maximum 3dB with the loudest hits.
