Best Panner.

Postby Definity » Thu Mar 14, 2013 10:18 pm

So I have these Panners for Neb.
AlexB:
Pan 3
Pan 4.5

3D:
HRTF original
HRTF Filtered
HRTF Stoned

2D:
MAC vlz panner
MAC vlz panner II
MAC vlz panner S

Surreal:
SuroundFX

Now I read on here that the Alex B ones had a problem and that they can mess with a track if you don't know how to use them properly. I Have no idea what HRTF is, anyone?

As for the 2D ones should I stick with these? what the difference between these and the Alex B ones? are there any other sampled pan pots out there from save N**e or S*L?

Let me try and find the post.

(This is the point where I can't find it and look like a complete plank!)

He doesn't go in to detail really, may be it was on another forum. It was something about how you should use it on percussive material and it could mess up a mix if used wrong. Any ideas why?

head related transfer function

simplified said: it involves loudness and frequency changes between the ears, because of head shading, earform. etc.

it is not to be used like a panpot! i would stay away from it, if you do not really know how to use it. every person has its own special HRTF, this nebulaprogram is more experimental i think.

Thanks for finding definity, you obviously are no plank ;). Good to know I have to take care using it percussive material. I used it a view times and liked what it did, maybe those were lucky shots. It kind of explains the big difference between the panner in my daw and the alexb panner though
