SOLVED - VNXT Reverbs - Useles at 96khz or Nebula bug?

Postby scooter » Tue Sep 27, 2011 6:57 am

So I bought the VNXT EMT Plate verbs based on how they sounded online, however; they are useless.
Just one instance at their intended rate (96khz) and my Cubase6 is brought to it's. Mind you not my computer. All of the VNXT presets do this!

I've tried large buffers and small buffers and nothing will do the trick. I'm using Nebula Reverb version. The weirdest part is that it barely uses any CPU or ASIO power when Nebula down-samples to 48khz or 44.1khz and works fine. I'm using Nebula 3 Pro 1.3.500a
Any ideas or am I f**ked?

Could this be a bug in Nebula? :|

Hey Scooter. I don't know your specs, but the presets ARE CPU monsters, but I use them very successfully on a modest non-i quad core. The trick is that you need to raise the "L FREQD" setting in the MAST page. I made a copy of the reverb dll and respective xml, renamed them Nebula Verb, and raised the L FREQ D setting for that. Now that is my dedicated reverb Nebula. But that setting is supposed to give you the longer tails in reverbs, so I'm not sure if it will solve your CPU issue. What are your specs? What is your DSPBUFFER setting in Nebula? If you have something less than at least a quad, the problem may be that your CPU is getting eaten by these presets! If your computer is powerful enough, then you may have some issue in your rig, not in the presets. Good luck and post back with your system specs>

Messing with the XML file for the longest buffer possible and jacking up the CNV rate fixed it.

Which CPU?
How many RAM?
Which OS?

Try this .XML, backup first...

CPU: i7 920
RAM: 12gbs
OS: WIN7 64bit
Cubase 6 (32bit)/ 24bit/96khz session/ 1 MIDI track using Groove Agent/ 1 instance of Nebula 3 Pro using the VNXT EMT Plate 2s

Thank you, I'll give this XML a shot once I get home and I'll also try a similar session in Reaper to compare

Edit: Should I try CUDA?

Funny thing is, there doesn't seem to be a DSPBUFFER setting in the XML for the 1.3.500a Nebula Reverb XML, by default

By the way, the VNXT EMT Plate presets work with very little CPU hit at 48khz.

They sound fantastic and absolutely gorgeous!!!
Can't wait to hear these at there Native sample-rate!

I'm beginning to think this is a bug in Nebula, being there is little to no CPU hit at 48khz on my i7 rig

Hi G!
If we're talking about ASIO buffer it's 512 to 1024
I don't see a <DSPBUFFER> entry in the XML:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1" ?>
<?generated by Nebula2 parser?>
