STRUDEL/CDSOUND

Postby young.baws » Thu Mar 10, 2011 11:02 am

Hi all!

This is for the R2R users:

"STRUDEL A81 I"or "STRUDEL A81 II @15 IPS" is in the same league as the "STUDER 0 15a" from the R2R Collection?

Does it have kind of the same tonal characteristics?

I use NRGUI with the Globe Console & I want to add a tape.

I'm the process to get R2R/TB+ but I just got a session to be done next week.

Thanks in advance!

Hehe, I never noticed it was called strudel. From what I remember they do sound different. I haven't got them installed anymore, so can't check :(. I don't like to render the r2r, though. Hitting it at the right input level is too important (which I didn't know before I started using r2r, so maybe I wasn't using the free ones to their full potential)

Update:

Bounced every track to mono using NRGUI (osx), then imported them in stereo.
I got some very nice results using this virtual chain:

Sphere console (hi)->1084 EQ In 0dB (K11)-Strudel III-> 1084 EQ in OdB (K11)->Sphere Console (hi).

The original files were super harsh digital, and it came out very smooth...

For the vocals:

1084 EQ In 0dB (K11)-> Strudel III-> 1084 EQ in OdB (K11).

Happy mixing!

Peace out!!!

If you are able to, just buy the R2R and tape booster. Download is swift and the sound is right.

Honestly, no comparison. That's not because the Strudel programs are bad but rather because the R2R program set is so good.

In addition to hitting the tape program at the right level (I'm with Mplay on this one, I never pre-render stuff like that, I tweak levels and program choice) the differences between the various programs for a particular machine make subtle differences available as well. It's a ton of programs for each machine and a nice variety of different machines.

R2R is the Nebula purchase (aside from the plugin itself) that I have gotten the most use out of by far.
