Let me clarify - I can hear a load of clicks and pops in SNARE-DEMO-1.mp3

Can I have the reason for this? Is it the true nature of the hardwares and settings captured, or a deficiency in nebula's reproduction/the program (ie, TDC still has a weakness where dynamic reduction is concerned?)

Hi Enclave,

There are not clicks or pops in SNARE-DEMO-1, but rather a lot of examples of heavy compression. They are all intentional sound and do not exhibit negative artifacts of the digital technology or problems with programs. More subtle snare settings are easy to achieve as well, but I created these to allow extreme conditions to be heard, and this is definitely the kind of sound that is typical of analog comps pushed to the same extremes.

Listen carefully with good monitoring;
you will hear some settings that have some heavier harmonics, some that drive the proximity of the mic and others that are a little more crisp and raw. I've also chosen a snare that is similar to what someone might consider a challenge for a digital or algo software comp to handle, which is that it has a fast initial 'crack' followed by some ambience, which is extremely hard to compress correctly if it is done wrong, so listen for how different the changes in the ambience tail change with the programs.

I hope this helps.
Thanks,
Michael
