How short is a 'short plate'?

Postby odd » Thu Jan 13, 2011 8:54 pm

Please take into account I'm a noob.

When folks talk about having a short plate on tap as a send for snares, vox and guitars, how short is that? What Nebula programs would be suitable? I don't have the factory set installed (yet), thinking maybe the VNXT 1 second program would be fine, but it's very dense and might be too long.

I use a gate if 1 sec is too long.

1s was as short as the original unit went so I guess it was considered short back then....but it can seem a bit much on modern mixes.

Mplay's suggestion is a good one & also making the reverb return mono can work great for snare...this tames a too big reverb significantly.

Doesn't VNXT have a half-second one?
Love those plates, the denseness is the deal. Factory plates cannot compare, IMHO.
