Nebula server and Nebula local server

Postby giancarlo » Sat Oct 09, 2010 6:41 pm

How many of you are interested in one of them and which one?
We are ready for selling them, but I need to balance support, costs, price, efforts.

_____________________________________________________

Nebula localserver Windows:
you could run x64 nebulas in 64 bit windows from a 32 bits host. No more memory limitations, less crashes, faster and so on. Is anyone interested in it even if upgrade is priced around 39 eur?

_____________________________________________________
Nebula server Windows:
You could run nebulas using a lan connection on remote windows computers. You can mix operating systems (32 bit windows, 64 bit windows), everything is based on socket connection. For each 1 gigabyte lan cable (maybe you need a multi lan card) you could run safely around 15 heavy alexb consoles. You could connect how many computers and server as needed, just buy more lan connections and computers.
Upgrade should be priced around 99 eur. 1 license for all computers you connect (I don't mind how many). Is anyone interested?

_____________________________________________________
Nebula client Mac
You could run a mac osx vst client (au after the au betatesting) connected to 1 or more windows nebula servers
Same price of Nebula server windows

_____________________________________________________
Nebula local server mac
under bug fixing
Not optimized as nebula local server windows, but you could run x64 nebula from a 32 bits sequencer in snow leopard, same mac. No more memory issues
Is anyone interested? price should be 39 eur.

Question: is anyone interested in optimized nebula local server mac? Upgrade should be priced around 79 eur in order to cover costs (I should develop it and I'm lazy).

Nebula server mac
same price of windows version, around 99, is anyone interested?

What is?
Nebula Server is a Nebula plug-in server that can work in local mode (client and server in the same computer) or in LAN mode through a network. You can mix PC/MAC server/client and X86/x64 version. Local mode us useful to run Nebula x64 in a x86 sequencer in x64 OS with out use any bridge 3rd party software. LAN mode is useful If you need to run more instances of Nebula that you DAW supports, we recommend a complete x64 computer with a lot of RAM and CPU/GPU power plus GigaLAN connections through CAT6 cables.

How much cost?
Not defined yet. Our first idea is...
. Nebula Local Server PC x64/x86 €39
. Nebula Server/Client PC x64/x86 €99
. Nebula Local Server MAC x64/x86 €39
. Nebula Server/client MAC x64/x86 €99

Upgrade from Nebula3PRO to Nebula Local Server €39
Upgrade from Nebula3PRO to Nebula Server/client €99
Upgrade from Nebula Local Server to Nebula Server/client €60

definitely intersted in this. the only question is, is there any advantage over jbridge which i'm using now?

nebula server not so much atm. i'm having a one dead silent pc solution for some time now. a second silent pc would cost me too much

new things are possible: crosstalk between different instances (to be implemented) and resource saving (to be implemented).
At the moment the solution is reliable, stable, and you have a single control point for all nebulas (you read the global performance and memory usage, for example).
I don't know how good is jbridge, anyway we are proposing a similar price just because it.

[edit] the other pc could be placed ANYWHERE (for example a different room). You need JUST one lan cable between them (I don't suggest a large distance between them, and I don't suggest wireless, regardless if it could work, because wireless are in general much slower)

could you explain some practical applications for crosstalk? resource saving is of course always welcome.

well, what can i say. it just works!

i know, but i really only have one room, no other room to put it in. within the next years maybe, we'll see ;)

yea jbridge works, I can attest to that as well as futur
But this server idea and intercommuncation between instances sounds amazing.
