i love the alexb black master eq, and with his clean and harmonic versions you can build a full stereo A*I eq, for example:
low shelf Harmonic Version mid bell clean high bell clean high shelf clean
that's 4 instances of nebula. its a lot of cpu and ram, but so what! the eq costs £2000!
the thing is, now i want to buy the EQ mostly for having all the bands available at once and having all the knobs to twist and control rather than an annoying little mouse. thing is, i would need new DAC/ADC to make it worthwhile too.
my BIG question is, could i just buy a behringer BCF2000 motorised set of faders and set it up so that i load a channel in cubase with 4 instances of nebula loaded with the different A*I eq bands and the BCF2000 controls all 4 of them at once making a total A*I EQ?!
also, even more important, will the motorised faders be able to know all the nebula settings and just jump back into position when the session is loaded and the channel selected? then i could go from channel to channel making adjustments seeing the actual fader positions.
if this is possible then it would be AMAZING! maybe it is, did i read giancarlo had one of these units?
THANKS. if that would work it would be 64bit, i7 8gig ram time...
well bfc allows a mackie control emulation. You could change a plug at time, and switch to next nebula instance. 8 nebula sliders are mapped to 8 touch faders. Very funny experience. If you need to control 4 nebulas at once the midi learn feature is the way to go, but you should configure it, I never did it.
Just to chime in here, you can definitely do this with the Behringer. I tried it out before. I have to say though for me, I found it slowed me down more than actually help. This kind of thing is a work-flow issue and is completely subjective so you can try it out for yourself to see if you like it.
i am running nebula 1.3.277 as it works 100% and the very new ones gave me my first crashes, so staying clear till people stop posting about crashes in them.
in cubase in mackie control mode i select nebula on the insert menu. it says there are 3 pages. none of the pages say there is anything there, but one time i moved the control and the first knob started to move (yes!)... now it just doesn't . all the other plugins i have report their parameters and seem to work.
there were some numbers displayed, but they were not correct.
you mentioned midi learn? i am not sure how this would work with the BCF, if i want to use a fader it is allready being used to control track level, does anyone know how to stop it doing that?
it took me all evening to get the thing working, the online docs are useless, had to watch youtube vids to get to grips with anything.
