Set up an Aux track with one of Henry's bass amp programs. Potentially a little EQ/filter before the amp, and now the most important part: a phase rotator! Move the phase until you get the desired sound blended with the DI. Whether the DI is louder than the amp or vice versa is totally up to the artist/engineer Some people prefer the low end of the DI track and the mids of the cab. I'd say it all depends on the context of the track.
A friend of mine always records his bass through an A****n U5, followed by a dbx160a, with great results. Not even an amp needed The basses and his performance itself are also big part of the deal. I like to spice it up with a standard A*I pre from AlexB, no, or hardly any eq, to a Studer (A800) program from cdsm, tape booster, vtm, and it's done.
