And if one is using OSX on the main computer - can one use a Windows/Intel server?

CUDA on Nebula Server, officially not supported and never tested.

TCP/IP is protocol suite not related with a OS.

Thanks for this info!

Another question - does anyone know what generation or model of server I would want to be considering, given that Acustica's recommendation is for the server to be 4 x more powerful than the client computer (in my case currently Intel core i7 / 2ghz / 4 core)?

Interested as well :?: It must be just placing emphasis on NOT using older, weaker computers going forward with a Server network. :?

Hope someone responds.

As a follow-up ? Is Nebula3 Server version .. downloaded today .. Core 6 and with other updates versus Pro3 Bundle?

I'm sure I read this but no official confirmation.

Appreciate the clarification!

Even if no (= 00) need for actual Server capability, Latency is much better on Server than Pro Bundle :?:

Thank-you for helping.

I am confused now. Are you talking about the pro version ? Being Core 5 and acting like Core 4 ? And Server is Core 6, right ?

Hi,

Nebula Server is Core 6. Pro is core 5. Check the top of the mast page for the version. Hope that clears it up. I think G. misunderstood.

Regards

Edit: This information is for Windows.

The big latency improvements will come with the upgrade of server/ client to Core 7 from how this reads. I quoted the relevant post by Giancarlo below, from this thread viewtopic.php?f=56&t=29035&hilit=Core+6&start=20

Regards

yes we are betatesting also nebula.
Beware: zero latency has a cost (depending on your actual asio buffer). I suggest to configure a different nebula (using nebula setups for example) for tasks where you really need zero latency, ie tracking. A reverb in zero latency mode will work, but will use an hell of cpu, obviously. But you could track using the vnxt reverb, if you are asking for that ;) I achieved it.

We'll upgrade nebula client/server to Core7.
We'll upgrade also nebula3 free, so you could test it before upgrading.

Nebula3 pro will keep the old engine. As explained many times, Nebula server is a preview of Nebula4 and it shares the same engine but without the gui features.

About cpu usage: Core7 will run very well things based on Core6 because it implements a multithreading environment for Core6. Before Core6 was mono-threaded.

So there is no cpu improvement planned, because both nebula3 pro and nebula3 server cannot run acqua plugins, so they cannot run libraries based on Core6 (Core6 coalesces more nebula instances to a single one: even if nebula server could run a coalesced nebula you would not have a running gui for the serialized instance; nebula3 server cannot run acqua plugins because its limited skinning capabilities).

ANYWAY we are working on a new mode which makes also older things a bit faster (reducing dropouts), but it is still not working. The new mode implements a multithreading environment for Core7 itself. If we'll achieve an improvement on cpu loading we'll let you know.
