Nebula Server - How to use it ?

Postby Avgatzeblouz » Thu Oct 22, 2015 4:55 pm

Hi everyone,
I recently purchased Nebula server, but was wondering :

1 - in the Dashboard, there is 2 versions available to download. One called "Upgrade Nebula3 Server x64 1.3.903" and the other one "Upgrade Nebula3 Server VSTGUI3 x64 1.3.903". What are the differences ?

2 - In Nebula itself, how can you make sure you are using the server version and not the pro. I don't see any "About" or "info" button.

3 - How do you setup an external computer to share ressources, and what latency does that involve ?

Thanks a lot !

answer to 1:

vstgui3 is a legacy version for older systems, for rendering the UI.
it is pretty much obsolete these days.

answer to 2:

look on the mastpage in nebula. in the upper part is a version name and number. the server version contains an S in its name somewhere, nebula3 pro does not.
system 1: windows 8 32 bit - samplitude prox, tracktion6, reaper
system 2: mac osx yosemite - reaper(32+64bit), tracktion6(32+64bit)

both systems on: macbook pro (late 2009), core 2 duo 3,06 ghz, 4 gb ram, graphic: nvidia geforce 9600M GT 512 MB

Good starting point: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1346.

3 - How do you setup an external computer to share ressources, and what latency does that involve ?

http://www.acustica-audio.com/phpBB3/vi ... 39&t=28138.

We hope you understand your are talking about a server computer in a network based in TCP/IP (response about latency)

I installed the Server update, but I still don't see the S in the master page. I've got 1.3.903 (Core 6004 x64).

mmh, it could be they changed the naming, as core 6 is nebula server only afaik.
so no need to differentiate by an S anymore? that's my guess.
support would have to confirm.

it looks like you have the server version, by looking at the core numbering.

system 2: mac osx yosemite - reaper(32+64bit), tracktion6(32+64bit)

Was curious if CUDA works via server - if the graphics card were located on the external hardware running in server mode, thus offloading some reverb processing duties?

And if one is using OSX on the main computer - can one use a Windows/Intel server?

CUDA on Nebula Server, officially not supported and never tested.

TCP/IP is protocol suite not related with a OS.

Not sure how much OT this is, but very important and critical right now. Please help :!:

Will purchase either Nebula3 SERVER or Pro Bundle within 24 hrs.
Do NOT need true Server capability although running (3) Desktop Win10 PCs. Extra cost paid for SERVER is for what I've read about enhanced performance .... essentially a solid step toward Nebula 4 (Core 6) .... which Pro Bundle does NOT have.

Please help me avoid this choice if my information is incorrect.
Will run only on current i7-840/8GB/SSD system.

Sorry avgatzeblouz .... I do not want to dilute your important info here.
