I've been looking at building a new machine. Maybe even getting a refurbished HP z800 with Dual x5675 CPU's.
With the new crop of Intel i7 processors, like the 5820k, I'm starting to get confused as to what type of a build really gives Nebula the best working environment.
So I currently use Reaper x64 on Windows 7 x64.
The Dual Xeon HP z800 is a monster, but the single core speed performance is down quite a bit from something like the i7 4790k. Looking at CPUBenchmark.com, the 4790k is around 2500 rating, and the xeon is around 1420. The total horsepower of the Dual CPU z800 is greater than the 4790k, or the 5820k, but I wonder which environment, Nebula performs best in. What CPU version does it perform best on. Haswell? Does it care?
I only mention the z800 because of the Dual Xeon CPU setup, and decent price.
My goal, is to be able to run as many instances of Nebula as I can. Maybe not mix in real time, but as close as I can.
