Kvr topic about Multithreading, Hosts and Nebula

Postby Benjaminjo » Sat Nov 12, 2011 4:43 pm

Hello,
I've posted my experience about Multi-Proccessor Cpus, Hosts and Nebula performance comparison on Kvr.

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... sc&start=0

Maybe there is something interesting to some Nebula and multiprocessors cpu users.

To Giancarlo: some devs are talking about multithreaded plugins but I really dont know if Nebula is Mt or not, if you have time and find the post interesting I would love to hear your opinion on this subject.
To make it short I've buyed a double Xeon cpu to run many instances of nebula without having to stop my workflow to freeze tracks. After 2 years still I'm not able to utilize all of the processing power my machine has in many Hosts tested (Sonar, S2, Live). The only host that shine in mp support is Reaper, one piece of software I dont want to use.
So I've asked for some help.

cheers
-Glitch

SawStudio supports dual core at the moment, we can easily observe that the contribution of how nebula performs in different threads...

it's the variable IPPTHREADS , default value is 1. It works for long tailed reverbs

I have noticed in Logic when i am using a number of Nebulas on the master 1 core will peak while the others are sitting at around 25%. Any tips for this Giancarlo? What settings should we use?

i would also like to know if this can work better with Zeon or single processors. I was talking a while ago in gearslutz about Xeons and most people agreed since there 2 processors they take a bit longer to function than 1 processor hence you might aswell get 1 good one rather than a xeon. But like sfunk said i only see 1 core maxed out sometimes on cubase, how would i change this.
