Upgrading HD

Postby dream » Thu Jun 12, 2014 2:37 am

Hi guys,

I bought a new, more performing, HD where to transfer all my libraries.
I cloned the old HD (which was an external HD) where I have all my libraries. I cloned it and also I named it in the same way.

Now no library is working. :) What I'm supposed to do to fix it? Asked for a new key?

PS: I see all the menu, all the libraries, but when I click on a program I get back the INIT preset.

is the complete nebula repository on your new harddrive?
it seems you have to upload your ser file again and get a new license for nebula.
it is tied to the the hardware.
system 1: windows 8 32 bit - samplitude prox, tracktion6, reaper
system 2: mac osx yosemite - reaper(32+64bit), tracktion6(32+64bit)

both systems on: macbook pro (late 2009), core 2 duo 3,06 ghz, 4 gb ram, graphic: nvidia geforce 9600M GT 512 MB

Thanks for the fast reply mathias. :)

Yes, it is. :)

Yeah, I became a developer! I restarted my mac and it worked! LoL

Jokes aside, I don't know why before it didn't work and now it's fine; also the libraries with a specific auth file work again.
I really don't know why before they didn't.

Now, I'm not 100% sure, but if I'm not mistaken we should get a new license only when we upgrade the System HD. Is that correct?

as far as I know Nebula looks at a different of things from your hardware to generate the serial. Think things like the CPU serial number (don't know the specifics).

So reinstall without changing anything in your hardware should NOT require a new license. Upgrading certain hardware parts might.

On the other hand, I once required a new license (under Windows) because I changed the drivers for my harddrive (SATA controller, changing from Windows-default to Intel's own) and suddenly my license was not working anymore :). So there might always be little pitfalls.

Acustica generally don't make a big deal out of it, if you say 'I did blablabla and now I require a new license' you almost get it immediately in my experience.

Nebula OSX serial (.SER) file is related with your OSX OS serial number, not with your CPU serial. DLLs/VSTs file read XML file(s) and search for other files in the datapath tag, wrong path = no fun.

Don't expect to much and detailed information about serial (.SER) file from us.

Enrique Silveti.
