my system:
i7 2600k
16GB
Win8.1
Cubase 7.5.2
UAD
Nebula 1.3.712

Hi dude,

how is it possible for you to use so many instances of nebula?? I have the newest IMac 3.5 32gb ram and use logic. I can probably use like 3 reverb lib and 8-10 eqs. thats it...
Is cubase working that much better with nebula? thanks for ur reply
MAC PRO 2013 12CORE 32 GB RAM

STUDIO ONE 3

like I wrote:
DSPBUFFER 4096 for Reverbs
DSPBUFFER 1024 for EQs

otherwise I would get equal results

use the reverb-version whenever you can, it seems to help a lot. I think that the bigger buffer / latency enables Nebula to use multiple cores itself. If I start using the normal version for EQs I can use way less than if I use reverb-version.

Also, the type of program influences it a lot. For me it can be 4 reverbs, or 50 preamps :P.

Like said earlier, 'number of instances' doesn't say anything. It all depends on the number of kernels and the length of the sampled kernels how much CPU power a nebula instance uses. Also, use of TIMED or FREQD influences it a lot :).

And some DAWs are better than others at spreading the load over multiple cores, but I don't expect major difference between Logic and Cubase in this example to be honest.

And yes, maybe it's Mac and/or the AU version that performs differently. Increasing your audio interface buffers seem to help performance a lot on a Mac if I'm to believe DawBench. Still.. using the right instance-type of Nebula (and / or increasing the DSPBUFFER size) helps a lot :P

On Mac, I experienced audio drops with only 4 instances of AITB or VNXT reverbs at 96 kHZ on a 2008 Mac Pro (buffers at 8192) with a CPU load on Reaper at about 20 %.
With the exact same software config (OS version, Reaper, Nebula versions) on a MacBook Pro 2011, everything runs perfectly.
On Mac, it seems that the number of instances depends on the chipset.

I just ran a little test with the new 1.3.721.
My system is
i7 2600k
RAM 16GB
Win7
NebulaServer 64 Bit
Cubase 7.0.7

I got two CUDAs for reverbs and 80 instances like tapes and compressors for other stuff and it was still stable and running. CPU was 95-99% and RAM around 5,5 gigas.
I'm very pleased with with 1.3.721.
