Registration question: Nebula3.ser vs. NebulaServer.ser

Postby marcpl » Sun Mar 16, 2014 12:19 am

hi,

i bought alex's MFC yesterday but haven't been able to successfully register. alex is helping me via email (even though it's the weekend) but we haven't figured it out yet.

the last time i had to re-register nebula was in 2011 after upgrading my DAW. everything has been working fine since.

even though all of my libraries have been working fine i decided to upload my nebula.ser file just to make sure that it's not the nebula registration that's preventing MFC from working.

everything went fine and i was emailed my new INIT files.

but i actually run nebula server and have nebulaserver.ser in nebularepository.

i can't upload nebulaserver.ser to the AA server for registration. i get a message saying 'you have reached the maximum number (0 of 0)of license requests for the product class', 'you are not enabled to authorize the product requested'.

why would i have a nebulaserver.ser file if i can't register it?

could this be preventing MFC from working?

4 years with nebula and it can still be confusing.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,
marco lemos

What version of Nebula server are you running ?

When I purchased the MFC, I had to do the server update ... was running v501 [?] since forever. Once I did the upgrade, the MFC generated the SER file for authorization.

hi RJ,

thanks for the reply. i'm running server 1.3.678.
the SER file being generated was never a problem.
the file was generated the first time that i loaded MFC.
the problem is that the AUT file i received doesn't authorize.

i have re-installed, sent a second SER to alex and even the newer AUT file doesn't work.

it's a mistery!

do you know anything about nebulaserver.ser???

thanks,
marco

they are the same. Are you starting the server standalone app?
Did you test the library in the simple client? windows or mac?

Hi marco,

I know little of the AUT system, other than following along. Heck, I was neveous about upgrading the Server version ... but now I'm glad I did ... much more stable AND, I can use the MFC. Sorry didn't mean it that way !

My 'system' is fairly much at default locations ... so my MFCPRO.aut file is in the main c:/nebulatemprepository folder.

Is that where you have it ?

opps ... I see <G> has spotted this thread ...

I think my work is done here

hi G,

i don't run the server app...never have.

by simple client do you mean nebula.dll and nebula reverb.dll? if so, yes i have.

my OS is win7 x64 SP1.

i don't know what's going on but the thought of not being able to use any of alex's future releases really freaks me out! or any library with CP for that matter.
damn piracy.

regards,
marco

so you placed the AUT file exactly where the ser is located?

ohhh you heartless son-of-a...haha.

yes, i have all SER and AUT files in nebularepository but in my case it's on an external:
l:\nebula\nebularepository

i suppose that could be part of the problem but that's where EVERY commercial, 3rd party and free preset is installed and never a problem.

alex told me that MFC should be installed in \nebularepository\programs so i reinstalled there and it still didn't work.

and i've never once installed a 3rd party library there...they always go in a subfolder for that dev.
MFC is the first in 4 years.

oh well, it'll get sorted out..i don't even want to live in a world without alexb...what would be the point!
