HP Z620 PC UPGRADE OPINIONS NEEDED

Postby mightymosaic » Mon Feb 03, 2014 9:57 am

Hey guys,

I have an opportunity to upgrade my PC workstation with one of these bad boys for $2000 Here are the specs.

HP Z620

System:
-2 x Intel Xeon E5-2630, 2.3GHz (2 Processors)
-12GB of RAM
-64-Bit Operating System Windows 7
-2 x 4TB hard drives
-3yr Warranty
-GTX 680 video card

This system is just 1 year old and still under a three year warranty.

For the price ill be getting it at I'll have to sacrifice the video card and the 2 4TB hard drives. Not an issue really , I would have to spend some cash on another video card and im all good for hard drives ( I have 8 TB external) , Ill probably spring for a 240 ssd For the OS after all is set and done.

My current PC is a i7 2600k OC to 4 ghz with 16 gigs of ram with other bells and whistles (was built for gaming). It works great and is fast for what it does. My only reason for even thinking of the Z620 is because I love Nebula and would like to be able to add more instances of it with sped up work flow. What do you guys think?

For the record I use Reaper and run Win 7 64 bit.

Also i can probably get $600-$750 For the Pc i own right now. and that would go towards the price of the new machine. So lets say i can get this for $1400 all in. would it be worth the upgrade? Also How big of a difference will the Z620 make compared to the OC 2600K?

Thanks for your time and effort.

Hi,

Here somewhere, GianCarlo talked about latest generation Intel CPU (Haswell) versus multi-cpu architecture.

viewtopic.php?f=11&t=27383&hilit=cuda

I followed his advice and bought a 4770K+MB, overclocked it, and got great results.

btw, that CPU is around 215,-EUR, the MainBoard (MSI Z87 GD65) is 125,-EUR. So, if you don't mind building the computer yourself, for very little money, you can have a killer setup.

I believe Henri Olonga has a dual CPU computer. Maybe you can contact him.
