Hi everybody. I know I must be doing something wrong and some help would be really appreciate it. I've been using nebula (Reverb) for EQ basically and to use some of AlexB Consoles. I also used Fate compressor sometimes, but now I wanted to get an approach to the new compressor stuff with nebula. So I decided to give a try first downloading Gemini Audio's Kult Compressor demo. Then I followed some instructions I've found here to setup the compressor .xml file (I have to say that I'm using the latest version of Nebula 3 Pro (1.3.602b) on Mac OSX.6.8 and Digital Performer). Well, right now I can use from 45 to 50 Nebula (Reverb) instances (depending on the project) at 2048 DSPbuffer without a blink, and considering how unstable Nebula was on previous versions, now I can tell that I have very much less crashes than what I was used to with older versions. So I could say I'm quite happy. So the problem for me is that I setup Nebula (Compressor) and wanted to try KultComp demo version and my Mac literally explodes with just one instance of the compressor and my CPU overloads and it can't even play one bar of the song. What am I doing wrong? Here is my .xml info: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?> <?generated by Nebula2 parser?> <MASTER> <MAGIC> 12gd </MAGIC> <UP> 1 </UP> <DATAPATH> /Volumes/BACK-UP HD/AcusticaAudio/Nebula3/ </DATAPATH> <PROGRAMSUBPATH> Programs/ </PROGRAMSUBPATH> <VECTORSUBPATH> Vectors/ </VECTORSUBPATH> <SETUPSUBPATH> Setups/ </SETUPSUBPATH> <CACHESUBPATH> Temp/ </CACHESUBPATH> <SKINSUBPATH> Skins/ </SKINSUBPATH> <SETUPROMNAME> Rom.xml </SETUPROMNAME> <DICTIONARYSUBPATH> Dictionaries/ </DICTIONARYSUBPATH> <DICTIONARYROMNAME> Rom.xml </DICTIONARYROMNAME> <WORKBUFFER> 32768 </WORKBUFFER> <HDIMMAX> 10 </HDIMMAX> <FIXEDQUALITY> 0 </FIXEDQUALITY> <SERVERADDRESS> . </SERVERADDRESS> <SERVERPORT> 6000 </SERVERPORT> <METERTYPE> 7 </METERTYPE> <OTIMED> 5 </OTIMED> <OFREQD> 11 </OFREQD> <PROGRAMRATE> 100 </PROGRAMRATE> <EXPORTAUDIOQUALITY> 1 </EXPORTAUDIOQUALITY> <FORCEOFFSET> 1500 </FORCEOFFSET> <LTIMED> 20029 </LTIMED> <LFREQD> 20000 </LFREQD> <GUIRATE> 30000 </GUIRATE> <HDIM> 10 </HDIM> <BPMDEFAULT> 120000 </BPMDEFAULT> <AHEADLENGTH> 1315 </AHEADLENGTH> <SCANBOOT> 1 </SCANBOOT> <AUTOTHREAD> 0 </AUTOTHREAD> <FASTBOOT> 1 </FASTBOOT> <RATECONVERSION> 4500000 </RATECONVERSION> <FONTCOLOUR> 0 </FONTCOLOUR> <SKINNAME> SK GooD </SKINNAME> <NODROP> 0 </NODROP> <LOADERPRIORITY> 1 </LOADERPRIORITY> <MODE> 1 </MODE> <DSPBUFFER> 128 </DSPBUFFER> <MIDISTSMIX1> 176 </MIDISTSMIX1> <MIDICTRMIX1> 127 </MIDICTRMIX1> <MIDISTSMIX2> 176 </MIDISTSMIX2> <MIDICTRMIX2> 127 </MIDICTRMIX2> <MIDISTSMIX3> 176 </MIDISTSMIX3> <MIDICTRMIX3> 127 </MIDICTRMIX3> <MIDISTSMIX4> 176 </MIDISTSMIX4> <MIDICTRMIX4> 127 </MIDICTRMIX4> <MIDISTSMIX5> 176 </MIDISTSMIX5> <MIDICTRMIX5> 127 </MIDICTRMIX5> <MIDISTSMIX6> 176 </MIDISTSMIX6> <MIDICTRMIX6> 127 </MIDICTRMIX6> <MIDISTSMIX7> 176 </MIDISTSMIX7> <MIDICTRMIX7> 127 </MIDICTRMIX7> <MIDISTSMIX8> 176 </MIDISTSMIX8> <MIDICTRMIX8> 127 </MIDICTRMIX8> </MASTER>
is the <up> still needed with the version 1.3.602? i realized that with the new version one can adjust program rate quite small. less than 1ms. so i wonder if <up> is implemented by default in the new version, or it is still changing anything in the setup?
So the problem for me is that I setup Nebula (Compressor) and wanted to try KultComp demo version and my Mac literally explodes with just one instance of the compressor and my CPU overloads and it can't even play one bar of the song. What am I doing wrong?
If Nebula refresh EVF more quickly you will need more CPU for this instance. We setup a minimum value of refresh EVF rate in MAST. Computer are fast now but not enough. We tried to find a best relationship between performance and sound, our beta testers request sound over performance. Using UP tag you lost AA support.

Are you using VST or AU? Or are you wrapping? You can check, if the xml tweak took effect by loading the KultComp, go to the KERN page and see, if the TIMED values on the right side are 2.1ms. They shouldn't be higher with the <LTIMED> 2100 </LTIMED> tweak.
