Nebula3 Pro Win x64 1.3.602 Long Load Time

Postby zwatrif » Wed Oct 09, 2013 12:34 am

Hello,

Today I updated Nebula3 Pro Win x64 1.3.600 to 1.3.602. All seems to be working fine except for having to wait around 30 seconds from the time that I instantiate an instance of Nebula in the Sonar FX bin until Nebula gets to the "Init" screen. I've never had to wait as long as 30 seconds in any previous version that I used. It seemed like it used to load in 3-5 seconds. And now it takes 30 seconds. Any suggestions as to why the long load time?

Thanks for any help in advance.

it's caching your folder again... check windows permissions on temp folder, and check again tomorrow, maybe today all files appear as "new".

Thanks for your help Giancarlo. I don't know what you mean by what you said. Could you explain further?

Is it supposed to take 25-30 seconds from the time that I instantiate an instance of Nebula in the Sonar FX bin until Nebula gets to the "Init" screen? That seems slow to me.

Giancarlo

I tried your suggestion and it didn't help. Thanks again for your help though.

Is anyone else experiencing long load times? Specifically I mean the amount of time it takes from when you instantiate an instance of Nebula in your DAW until Nebula gets to the "Init" screen. It's taking about 25-30 seconds for me and this only started happening after I upgraded to Nebula3 Pro Win x64 1.3.602.

I would appreciate anyone's help with this.

It really depends on the number of presets you have in your entire library.

This is why using ZAB's NebulaSetUps to make 'custom' Nebulas for a specific library becomes more & more useful.

A custom NEB can load within seconds, while my main 'generic' Nebula takes a long time to get to INIT.

Not sure this is your case ...

Thanks for your help RJHollins. I do have quite a large 3rd-party Nebula library. Maybe that's why I am seeing longer load times. I felt that before I upgraded to the latest Nebula version, my load times were shorter. Maybe I'm mistaken. I guess the main thing is that other than long load times, Nebula is working well on my 64-bit Sonar X2 and 32-bit Pro Tools 10 Native. :-)

How big is big...? Have you hit the 10,000 preset threshold yet? You should definitely look into using Nebula Setups. I have over 50 specific instances made with this very cool app, and load-time (to the init screen) for any one of them is a few seconds. So opening a project that already has many nebula's does not take long to load anymore. That 30 seconds or more that you report is actually normal if every time you load a blank Nebula it has to scan your entire repository.
