Hi all. I'm currently testing Nebula 3 Free server on two computers with windows 7. The main workstation is a Quad Core Q6600 2.4ghz with 2 gb of memory. The "server" is a Dual Core E6300 2.8ghz also with 2gb. I'm testing on an Ableton 8 project. Everything is fine, except the CPU usage on Ableton. Every time i load a new instance of Nebula the CPU increases 15-20%. I barely can use 6 instances of Nebula on the project. On the server computer, the 6 instances are taking 139mb of memory and 84% of CPU. When i load one more instance of Nebula the CPU usage on Ableton jumps from 69% to 94% without any program chosen! On server it jumps to 95%. Both Ableton and Nebula have latency set to 2048. Then i've run a second test with the same 7 instances with same programs and settings BUT all locally, without using any server. Guess what, the seven instances only uses 75% of CPU. Can someone explain?
It doesn't seem to be a bandwidth problem (at least on surface). The 7 instances are "only" using more or less 2,5 MB/s on each way, which is far from the maximum bandwidth for 100BASE-TX networks (12,5 MB/s). Thank you.
