How to fine tune your CUDA installation

Postby dagovitsj » Fri Nov 16, 2012 1:10 am

I just want to share some findings regarding using CUDA in Win7-64 bit, in Cubase 6.5.3. My ASIO buffersize is 512 (TCKonnekt24D).

I started with the default DSPBUFFER: 512, and that gave me stutter when I loaded the reverb from VNXT EMT140.

Then I changed the DSPBUFFER to 1024, and the GPU in DiskMode showed 28%, not good. Long story short. I increased the DSPBUFFER to 4096, and wow - now the GPU only showed 6-7% GPU.

Conclusion: now I can load several quite heavy (CPU wise) reverbs on my GeForce 9800 GT (graphics card) and still have a lot of CPU left on my i5 CPU to do other stuff. This was very cool to accomplish! Just want to share ;)
