Free RAM

Postby young.baws » Sun Aug 21, 2011 8:17 pm

Hey here's a cool trick I use all the time I'm working,

if u install "CHUD tools" included in the xcode package (apple utilities pack for developers) (u can find xcode in your osx install CD)

and if you go into your terminal, type "purge", and it will release your RAM (data that is no longer used)

to view your RAM usage, go to your "activity monitor"

OR if u dont have the xtools, you can use IFreeMem (http://www.activata.co.uk/ifreemem/)

Now when I freeze my tracks (ease the CPU but not the RAM: check the activity monitor), I can free the RAM, thus, use more and more nebula inserts :)

Take care,
Happy mixing!!!!!!

Strange, this doesn't seem to work with Logic 9.1.4, OSX 10.6.7.
I've tried both CHUD and iFreemem, without succes.
Is there another way to purge the RAM when working with Logic?
