i have two compressors, i use pretty often, to bring out a little more of the character of pres, or console-inputs.
one is the mixpressor from psp, from mixpack 2.
it is very fast to dial in and gives me what i need most of the time.

second one (especially for the masterbus) is mastercomp from psp.
it gives me the smoothest compression i know in the pluginworld.
great after tapes, or to give the masterbuss just a little detail and compact feeling.

Personally, after years of trying to get the sound I wanted I got it when I tried ELEPHANT!!! It has 'that aggressive sound' I was looking for. :)

But that was only after I got my mixes sorted with Alex b's mlc, all the various eqs and compressors and a big help in my mastering is the R2R and tape booster. Then with elephant on the end I was happy.

Also will ad that I used the UAD P limiter for about 1-2 years and was never happy with it, Elephant is better for an upfront, loud master. Also tried lot's of other limiters incuding waves, fabfilter.
Forthcoming releases on: Black Heart Label, Hyperdrive and Transfixion. http://soundcloud.com/100mg. 6 FREE Downloads on my soundcloud page. Nebula ALL over these trax!
